Established in 1998, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at AVIT is one of Chennai's leading EEE departments, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with application-oriented focus on Renewable Energy, Power Electronics, and Power System Automation.

Home to the Centre of Excellence for Solar Energy- a 126 kWp solar plant generating 600 units a day- and supported by research grants from MNRE, DST, MHRD, and IIT Hyderabad, learning at AVIT goes well beyond the classroom and into real-world energy innovation.
